Hendra Healthcare is an awards winning privately owned company providing residential care for 28 elderly residents based in Ludlow in Shropshire.

Since its formation in 2002 the company has pursued a strategy of providing excellence in all aspects of the business.

As a result the home is recognised as a quality provider of care both locally, regionally and nationally.

Hendra Healthcare recognises that corporate excellence can only be achieved by an ongoing programme of staff development at all levels within the organisation. Currently 94% of all staff employed hold or are working towards NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4.

At its last inspection the home received the “ultimate” accolade of not only receiving an “Excellent” rating, but achieved an excellent rating across all 7 key indicators.

Other accolades awarded include being voted Best Small Care Business in Central England and Best Care Business in Shropshire in 2009.

Evidence of the quality of training and development opportunities for all its staff has resulted in the home being voted:

  • Best Small / Medium Apprentice Employer in the West Midlands 2009 and 2011.
  • National Winner of the Small Employer Category at the 2009 NAS Awards, and a National Finalist in 2011.
  • The only employer to have two finalists in the 2010 World Skills in Care Competitions with one member of staff winning the Bronze Medal.
  • Runners Up at the Skills Accolades 2010.
  • Best Apprentice Employer at 2011 Shropshire Business Awards.
  • Voted in the “Top 100 Employers” in the country by the National Apprenticeship Scheme from over 90,000 potential applicants in 2011, and the only company from the Social Care sector to be chosen for this prestigious accolade.

Despite the current economic climate Hendra Healthcare is committed to developing staff at all levels in the organisation in order to achieve corporate aims and objectives.
