James is acknowledged as one of the leading learning and development professionals within the social care sector.
Having previously worked for Bupa Care Services for 10 years, where he was initially responsible for the design and delivery of a first-class leadership and management development strategy across Bupa Care Homes. He then moved on to the role of Head of People Development, before taking up the role of Head of Organisation Development and Talent.
With over 20 years’ experience in the field of learning and development, leadership and management development and organisation development, he joined Bupa from a leading financial services plc where he headed up their leadership and management development function - implementing a highly successful development programme across the organisations’ 450 branches. Prior to that he was a freelance learning and development consultant, working in many different sectors throughout the UK and Europe.
A graduate of the University of Huddersfield, his professional recognitions include being a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and also an invited judge on numerous industry award panels. His career highlights include leading Bupa to three successes at the National Training Awards, and the highly prestigious CIPD ‘People Management Award’ for the inspirational and widely applauded personalised care programme ‘Personal Best’.
James is extremely proud to work in the social care sector, and his absolute passion is to make a difference to the lives of all those who use the wide range of care services. His personal mission is to raise the level of leadership and management capability across the sector.
