Choosing a Coach
Finding the right coach is important, because coaches have a variety of experience, backgrounds, approaches, fees, specialities and qualifications. You will have to weigh up all the factors yourself. Coaches also range from those working alone to those working for large coaching organisations.
A QUICK GUIDE- LOOK FOR:
- Coaching experience - In what sectors and with what sorts of clients? How many hours a month? Is coaching the primary role?
- Practicalities - How long is a typical session? How many sessions does the coach recommend? What are the fees and discounts? Any other costs? Where would you meet? Does the coach travel to you?
- Qualifications - What are they, and when were they obtained?
- Background - What is the coach's background and past? Is the coach self employed, or part of a bigger set up or network?
- Specialisms - Are there any special interests or focus areas?
- Recommendations - Can any of your colleagues recommend any of the coaches?
