• Worldskills UK 2012 opens for entries

    21 December 2011

The Skills Academy is organising heats around the UK to find outstanding social carers.

Worldskills is the world’s largest vocational skills competition. In October 2011, over 150,000 vistors came to Worldskills London 2011, to see more than over 1,000 people from more than 50 countries compete in a range of categories, including social care.

The Skills Academy is sector partner for the care category, working with Worldskills UK, and is organising the next round of the UK competitions for 2012.

The next international Worldskills will be held in Leipzig in 2013, and the UK heats are the first step towards this goal.

The competition is being greatly expanded this time, with heats now taking place not only in all regions in England, but also in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Heats will take place between April and August 2012, and winners will go through to the national finals in October.

Worldskills is a fantastic opportunity for employers and training organisations to showcase the skills of staff and students – of all ages – and to celebrate true excellence in social care.

If you think you know someone who deserves a place in the competition, why not put them forward?

Deadline for nominations: 15th March 2012.
