• Better leadership in social care is the key to effective regulation

    02 December 2011

PRESS RELEASE - The Skills Academy recognises the challenges of effective regulation of the health and social care sectors highlighted in the National Audit Office report on the Care Quality Commission

The Academy CEO Diane Lawson states: “ The National Audit Office report of the Care Quality Commission shortcomings in inspection and regulation concerns the Skills Academy not just in itself, but because it comes in the wake of a spate of recent reviews illustrating poor quality care.

The sector absolutely needs an effective regulator, not only so that poor practice can be addressed quickly and as a matter of course, but also to ensure that the many organisations that are providing excellent care are not compromised by falling levels of confidence in the sector.
