Have you got what it takes for a management career in Social Care?

If so, you could be one of our National Trainees, with a 12-month placement in a social care organisation, tailored training and development, and a bursary worth £18,000 per year.

Our new cohort of trainees started in January 2012, and we are hoping to recruit to a further cohort later this year.  Please keep an eye on this website, and follow us on Twitter @NSASocialCare, for further information.

      • Information for hosts

Would you like the opportunity to obtain some additional resources for your organisation, free of charge, and at the same time contribute to the development of leadership and management capacity in adult social care?

If so, your organisation could be chosen to host one or more of our National Graduate Management Trainees.

There are a limited number of Trainees, who join the scheme after a rigorous selection process. The successful candidates are then placed with hosts who can offer them exposure to different aspects of adult social care over a twelve-month period, whether through front-line practice, back-office organisation, marketing, finance or policy development.

Trainees receive a bursary of £18,000 per year from the Skills Academy, and thereby represent additional potential resource for organisations without their having to employ additional staff.

        Benefits of hosting

        Benefits of hosting include:

        • Additional funded and high quality resources to bring new thinking to your organisation
        • Access to leadership and management development, as Trainees bring the training they receive as part of the scheme back to your organisation
        • An opportunity to take part in a benchmark training and development scheme for leadership excellence in adult social care
        • An opportunity to contribute actively, collectively and coherently to leadership and management development across social care
        • A potential ready-made resource of new managers trained to promote personalisation and multi-agency working
        • Promotion of your organisation as being in the vanguard of leadership excellence in adult social care

The deadline for applications for hosts for the 2012 cohort has now passed.  If you are interested finding out more about hosting in future, please go to our FAQs for hosts.  To register your interest for next year's scheme, please fill in this form.

Previous hosts have reaped enormous rewards through having a National Trainee:

"Bryony [Gilbert, a recent Graduate Trainee] should be cloned, she is so fantastic. She completely got the way we work and was in tune with everything. She did a business review for us, and a presentation that was so moving one of our operational managers was in tears." Tracey Flower, Cornwall Care

“Katy [Briggs, another recent Trainee] was so competent and capable that it was a joy to work with her...Katy brought so much to us...I really hope we can have another graduate in the future as Katy brought fresh vibrancy to our organisation.” Seona Gordon, Head of Personalising Services, London Borough of Lambeth
