      Job description

Shared Lives helps people to live family and community life to the full. Shared Lives is successfully used by hundreds of vulnerable and disabled people but is still largely unknown and underused.

Shared Lives now has the opportunity to become a major part of the future of care and support in Wales, reaching groups as diverse as parents with learning disabilities and older people who would prefer to be supported in or from the ordinary family homes of approved shared lives carers and their families.

We need an experienced, inspiring worker to make this step change happen. This project, funded initially for three years by the Welsh Government, will support Wales’ Shared Lives schemes to expand and reach new groups and overlooked communities. Working with local and national government, advocacy groups and existing Shared Lives schemes and carers in Wales you will also help develop the Welsh Government’s strategy for developing Shared Lives practice.

Shared Lives Plus is the UK network for family-based and small-scale ways of supporting adults including Shared Lives (formerly Adult Placement), Homeshare and micro enterprise. Our members enable people to achieve goals such as:

      • being in control of their services and their lives.
      • pursuing ordinary lives within their chosen families and relationships.
      • being valued by their communities and feeling like they belong.

We help our members to work together to survive, thrive and influence decision makers, providing support, training, events, resources, research and campaigning.
