Each member of the Dementia Action Alliance is signed up and committed to the National Dementia Declaration, a call to action that has at its core seven desired outcomes.
Members also make organisational commitments by way of an Action Plan setting out what they will do by 2014 to help deliver better quality of life for people with dementia and those that support them.
The Skills Academy’s Action Plan commitments sets out how our existing work will help deliver the desired outcomes by improving the quality of leadership, management and commissioning of social care.
Diane Lawson, Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy for Social Care, said:
“We are delighted to be joining such a wide range of social care colleagues in the Dementia Action Alliance. Many of our members are providers that care for people with dementia, and support their carers. By working with our members and with the individuals that take our leadership, management and commissioning programmes, the National Skills Academy will encourage good commissioning that focuses on outcomes, in order that people with dementia and their carers are able to enjoy choice and control, and to receive high quality services.”
